Cappadocia Tours from Istanbul

Cappadocia derived from the Persian phrase of Katpa Tuka meaning “the land of beautiful horses” is the name of a region located in the central Turkey including some parts of 5 of the 81 provinces of Turkey; Nevsehir, Kirsehir, Nigde, Aksaray and Kayseri. Cappadocia, with its natural, cultural and historical features, is one of the popular tourism centers in Turkey.

What makes Cappadocia so famous is, of course, its lunar landscape. The landscape was covered with tuff by the volcanic eruptions. Through thousands of years the landscape of Cappadocia was shaped with the forces of wind and rain erosions creating the bizarre rock formations called “the fairy chimneys“. There are different types of those such as mushroom shaped, pinnacled, capped and conic shaped formations which can be explored in our daily cappadocia tours.

Why you "must" visit Cappadocia?

Cappadocia has been inhabited since the neolithic ages, then became home for the Hittites, hosted Persians and during the Romans, Cappadocia provided valuable shelter for the early Christians. That is the reason why there are hundreds of churches and tens of underground cities carved into the rocks can be visited today. During the Byzantines, chapels and monasteries were hollowed out of the rock, their ochre-toned frescoes reflecting the hues of surrounding landscape. Even today, the landscape of Cappadocia settled by the locals, being used as houses, shops, cafes, hotels, pensions and pubs and bars.

The castle is the highest point in Cappadocia region and provides the imposing panaroma of the region with the volcanic Mount Erciyes (Argeus).
